Although Albert Einstein is known for the most famous scientific formula of all times, here is another formula that every real estate sales agent needs to treasure: Knowledge, fueled by emotion, equals action. Action is the key ingredient that ensures the results you seek. Only action can cause reaction or results. Further, only positive action can cause positive reaction or positive results. So, let’s look at action from a number of different standpoints and see what we can learn and then put into practice.
Action. The whole world loves to watch those who make things happen, and it rewards them for causing their waves of productive enterprise and the results that come as a result. I stress this because today I see many people who are really sold on just uttering affirmations. And yet there is a famous saying that says: "Faith without action serves no useful purpose." How true that is!
I have nothing against affirmations as one tool among many to create action. Repeated to reinforce a disciplined activity plan, affirmations can, indeed, help create wonderful results. But there is also a very thin line between faith and folly. You see, affirmations without a solid action plan can simply be the beginnings of self-delusion. And when it comes to your wellbeing, there is little worse than self-delusion.
The man who dreams of wealth and yet walks daily without an action plan toward certain financial disaster or the woman who wishes for happiness and yet thinks thoughts and commits acts that lead her toward certain despair are both victims of those false hopes which affirmations without action can manufacture. Why is that? Because words can soothe and, like a narcotic, they can lull us into a state of complacency. Remember this: TO MAKE PROGRESS YOU MUST ACTUALLY GET STARTED!
The key, of course, is to take an action step today. Whatever the project, start it -- TODAY. Start clearing out one drawer of your newly organized desk -- today. Start setting your first real, deeply desired goal -- today. Start learning to improve the necessary skills of your trade by listening to motivational cassettes -- today. Start making prospecting calls to your target market -- today. Start a sensible weight-reduction plan, if needed -- today. Start calling on just one tough customer each day -- today. Start putting money in your new "investment for fortune" account -- today. Write a long-overdue letter -- today. Anyone can! Even an uninspired person can break the cycle of lethargy by reading inspiring books.
Get some momentum going on your new commitment for the good life. See how many activities you can pile on your new commitment to the better life you wish for. Go all out! Break away from the downward pull of gravity. Get your thrusters going.
Prove to yourself that the waiting is over and that just hoping is in the past -- that faith and action have now taken charge of your life.
It's a new day and a new beginning for your new life. With discipline you will be amazed at how much progress you'll be able to make. What have you got to lose except the guilt, fear, and the failure of the past?
